Clockify review: pricing, limits and who it suits

Clockify review: what the free plan covers, what each paid plan adds, what 10 people cost, and where it stops short of payroll.

Short answer for this Clockify review: Clockify is the cheapest serious timer for a team that wants hours logged against projects and clients, and its free plan is genuine. It is not a payroll or HR tool, and the features a manager usually wants (timesheet approval, GPS, scheduling) sit on paid plans. Full disclosure: we build Wrkbase, a different kind of product, and the last section says when it is and is not an alternative.

Pricing, plan by plan

Clockify's pricing page lists a free plan for up to 5 users and four paid plans, per user per month. Billed annually: Basic $3.99, Standard $5.49, Pro $7.99 and Enterprise $11.99. Billed monthly: $4.99, $6.99, $9.99 and $14.99. A bundle with two other products from the same company is $12.99 annually. These are the prices on the page in October 2026, and the page shows no effective date, so confirm before you buy.

For 10 people billed annually that is $39.90 a month on Basic, $54.90 on Standard, $79.90 on Pro and $119.90 on Enterprise. There is no flat base fee, which keeps Clockify cheaper than Buddy Punch's or QuickBooks Time's base-plus-per-user pricing at this size.

What each plan adds

The step that matters most is Standard: timesheet approval, invoicing, an attendance and overtime report, and the QuickBooks integration all start there. GPS tracking and scheduling start at Pro, and the page lists a kiosk on every paid plan. The page mentions GPS tracking of visited client sites while the timer runs; it does not list geofencing.

So a team that only needs hours against projects can stay on Basic. A team where a manager approves the week needs Standard at least.

Where Clockify stops

No Clockify plan is sold as payroll. The reports are built to feed a payroll system, not to replace one, so pay still gets calculated somewhere else. If you want the hours to become a pay amount with taxes filed, timesheet to payroll software covers the three ways tools do that.

Where Wrkbase is and is not an alternative

Wrkbase is not a project-and-client timer built around billable rates, and it does not file payroll taxes. It is an alternative if you used Clockify mainly to see who worked when. Attendance, tasks, time tracking, leave, team chat and payroll tracking are in one workspace, free for up to 5 people and $8 per member per month on Team, which is $80 a month for 10 people. The timer starts when a task moves to In progress, so nobody has to remember it.

Is Clockify really free?

Yes, for up to 5 users, as listed in October 2026. The free plan covers basic time tracking. Timesheet approval, invoicing, GPS tracking and scheduling are on paid plans.

How much does Clockify cost for 10 people?

Billed annually, October 2026: Basic $39.90 a month, Standard $54.90, Pro $79.90, Enterprise $119.90. Monthly billing costs more, from $49.90 for Basic.

Does Clockify do payroll?

No plan is sold as payroll. Standard and above include an attendance and overtime report for payroll and a QuickBooks integration, but pay runs happen elsewhere.
