What the working days calculator works out

Working days are the days people are normally at work: here, Monday to Friday, with public holidays removed. Counting them between two dates tells you how much real working time a deadline, a notice period or a project actually contains.

The formula

How it is calculated

  1. Count the weekdays

Go through every date from the start to the end, both included, and count the ones that fall on Monday to Friday.

  2. Take off public holidays

Working days = weekdays - public holidays that fall on a weekday.

  3. Worked example

1 October 2026 to 31 October 2026 is 31 calendar days: 22 weekdays and 9 weekend days. With no public holidays, that is 22 working days.

Set your working days once

In Wrkbase each company sets its own working days and keeps a holiday calendar, and the monthly attendance summary counts absence against those working days.

Questions

Good to know before you rely on it

Are the start and end dates both included?

Yes. A range from Monday to Friday of the same week counts as 5 working days.

What if my working week is not Monday to Friday?

This working days calculator assumes a Monday to Friday week. For a different pattern, count the calendar days it shows and adjust by hand.

Why do I have to enter the holidays myself?

Public holidays differ by country, region and year. Rather than guess, the calculator lets you take off exactly the ones that apply to you.
