Short answer on Connecteam alternatives: Connecteam is hard to beat on price for a mobile team of up to 30, so the reasons to look elsewhere are usually fit rather than cost. If you want a rota tool, look at When I Work or Homebase. If you want a stronger punch clock, look at Buddy Punch. If you only need hours logged, Clockify is the lightest. And if you run an office or remote team, Wrkbase puts attendance, tasks, leave and payroll records in one workspace. Full disclosure: we build Wrkbase, and the last section says when it is not the right pick.
Why teams look for Connecteam alternatives
Connecteam is sold as separate hubs. The Operations hub (time clock, scheduling, tasks, forms) lists a free plan for up to 10 users, then plans at $29, $49 or $99 a month that already include the first 30 users, as listed in October 2026. Two prices are shown per plan without labels, so the lower figures here are the ones that look like yearly billing.
The usual reasons to compare Connecteam alternatives are practical. GPS clock-ins start at Basic, but geofence sites are capped at 10 on Advanced and unlimited only on Expert. Open shifts are on Basic, while repeating shifts and auto-assigned shifts need higher tiers. The payroll integration row on the pricing page was not clear when we checked. And a team of office or remote staff may simply not need a deskless-workforce app. The full tier breakdown is in Connecteam pricing.
What it costs at 10, 25 and 40 people
Monthly cost on each tool's entry paid plan, worked out from the prices each vendor lists (Homebase August 2026, Buddy Punch September 2026, the others October 2026). Connecteam's flat fee covers 30 users, so it stays at $29 until then. Homebase is per location, shown for one. Confirm current prices before you decide.
| Tool | 10 people | 25 people | 40 people |
|---|---|---|---|
| Connecteam Basic (free to 10 users) | $29 | $29 | $37 |
| Homebase Essentials, one location | $30 | $30 | $30 |
| When I Work Essentials ($2.50 per user) | $25 | $62.50 | $100 |
| Clockify Basic ($3.99 per user, yearly) | $39.90 | $99.75 | $159.60 |
| Buddy Punch lowest plan ($4.99 per user + $19) | $68.90 | $143.75 | $218.60 |
| Wrkbase Team ($8 per member; free up to 5) | $80 | $200 | $320 |
Homebase and When I Work: the rota tools
Homebase charges per location, $0 to $120 a month, with a free Basic tier for one location with up to 10 staff, so it stays flat as a single site grows. When I Work charges $2.50 to $8 per user with open shifts and shift swapping on its lowest plan and no free plan. Both go deeper on scheduling than Connecteam's entry plan; the trade-off is cost as headcount rises. More in Homebase alternatives and Homebase vs When I Work.
Buddy Punch and Clockify: the clock first
Buddy Punch is a per-person time clock with GPS on every plan and geofencing from Pro, plus a $19 base fee, and it costs more than Clockify or When I Work at every size in the table. Clockify is a timer first, free for up to 5 users, with scheduling and GPS from Pro and no payroll of its own. See Buddy Punch alternatives and the Clockify review.
Where Wrkbase is and is not an alternative
Wrkbase is not a deskless-workforce app. It has a phone clock with optional location, and Team and Enterprise can refuse sign-ins outside your work locations, but there are no geofence tiers, open shifts or training hub, and it does not file payroll taxes. If a mobile frontline team is the use case, Connecteam is the closer fit and costs less. It is an alternative for office and remote teams that want attendance, timesheets, tasks, leave, team chat and payroll tracking in one workspace, free for up to 5 people and $8 per member per month on Team. That is the highest price in the table at every size, and the gap widens with headcount because Connecteam's flat fee covers 30 users and adds only $0.80 for each one after. The line-by-line version is on Wrkbase vs Connecteam.
